6 Tasks to Tick Off Before the End of Summer
If you’re anything like me, the arrival of September on the horizon is enough to give me a kick into gear! Maybe it’s the last vestiges of the back to school season, or the change in weather that draws a line under the carefree atmosphere of Summer, or perhaps it’s just that by the end of August, we’ve well and truly given up hope of a sun-filled summer here in the UK, and instead resigned ourselves to preparing for the months and months of Autumn/Winter weather ahead.
Whatever the reason may be, with the last few days of August approaching, it’ll soon be time to get prepped for a cosy Autumn season, and there’s nothing like the feeling of a fresh start. Here’s a few tasks to get ticked off in the next few weeks, before the cooler temperatures really start to set in..
Tick off those Decor DIYs
Half-painted skirting board that you abandoned earlier in the year when a few hours of sunshine and a frolic with friends seemed a much preferable way to spend the afternoon: I’m talking about you! Set aside some time to finish those tedious, half-finished tasks about the home, all the better for when you’re decking the halls in a few months time!
Refresh the Desk Space
Nothing like September to give you that back-to-school sensation, is there? If you’re still working from home this year, it could be just the right time to give your work space a little refresh. Splurge on some new stationery, or check out these decor ideas for a productive Uni Workspace.
Hang Your Prints
If you’re a home decor lover, you’ve no doubt impulse bought a print or two in the past. But it’s time to get them up off the floor, or tucked away in their envelopes, and get those babies some frames up on the wall where they belong! Oh, and here’s exactly how to hang prints that are sturdy, straight, and look perfect in your place.
Deep Clean
The fleeting Summer months are not months for deep cleaning your carpets or hoovering under the bed, I think we can mostly all agree on this. You have to grab those warm days with both hands here in the UK, and cling on for dear life until the rain starts up again. But once you’ve had your fill of picnics, alfresco dining and other summer frolicking, take a few hours to divest your space of all the dust and dirt that build up in the lesser-cleaned spaces. If for no other reason than to ensure your house is Spider-free before they get too cosy.
Make those Returns
As a summer of weddings, showers, birthdays, and other bashes, there’s no doubt or a return or two kicking about the house, just waiting to go back. Make a post office trip with that ASOS parcel you’ve been putting off. I promise you’ll feel a superior sense of accomplishment!
Pull that A/W Goodness out of Storage..
I love this bit - that weekend where the weather’s a little bleak, the temperature’s a little cooler, and suddenly you feel inspired to pull out the Autumn Winter “bits” out of storage. You might not need the hats and mittens for another few months, but for me, pulling out those lovely autumn knits, and swapping out some of my more “summery” decor for something more autumnal and twinkly, is the perfect way to transition into the Autumnal months. Try switching your frames over to some more Autumnal prints.
